Each candidate will be assessed in accordance with the candidate’s merits, qualifications and ability to perform the relevant duties for the role. In situations that permit specifying a requirement that an individual must have a particular protected characteristic to undertake a job the client must show that applying the requirement is a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim, i.e. the employer must be able to objectively justify applying the requirement.

iXpect Recruitment will not discriminate against a disabled person:
  • by refusing to offer, or deliberately not offering the disabled person a job for reasons connected with their disability; or
  • by subjecting the individual to any other detriment (detriment will include refusal of training or transfer, demotion, reduction of wage, or harassment).
In recruitment and selection there may be a requirement to make reasonable adjustments. For example, disabled parking spaces or it might be necessary to have different application procedures for partially sighted or blind applicants that enable them to use Braille. This will be discussed with prospective clients.
iXpect Recruitment practices safer recruiting and will require enhance DBS checks (Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). We will apply for criminal records checks on all individuals because they are working with children and/or vulnerable adults. The code of practice published under section 122 of the Police Act 1997 advises that it is a requirement that all registered bodies must treat DBS applicants who have a criminal record fairly and not discriminate automatically because of a conviction or other information revealed.

  • iXpect Recruitment has a written policy on the recruitment of ex-offenders, which is made available to all DBS applicants at the start of the recruitment process
